Hi Dance Family,

What an exciting first half of Term 2 we’ve had! A warm welcome to all our new dancers and families, and a big hello to our returning students. It has been wonderful seeing everyone settle into studio life and begin working on our 20th anniversary concert theme — “MSF’s Roaring Twenties!”

Our Mini–Senior classes have already started learning their concert choreography and it’s shaping up to be an incredible show. 🌟

PLACES PLEASE – MID-YEAR DANCE CONCERT 🎭

A long-standing MSF tradition, Places Please is our mid-year showcase celebrating the hard work happening in the studio each week.

Unlike our end-of-year production, this performance is intentionally more intimate and stripped back — no costumes, no stage lighting, just pure dancing. It gives students the opportunity to perform in a relaxed environment while building confidence and stage experience ahead of our major end-of-year production, MSF’s Roaring Twenties.

Please inform the MSF team ASAP if your child is unable to attend the concert so we can make the necessary adjustments in class preparation.

The concert is an important part of the dance experience and students are expected to attend unless there is a significant reason they cannot. Performing allows dancers to celebrate all of the hard work they have put into class throughout the term and helps build confidence, teamwork and stage experience.

Adults: $27
Children (under 12): $18

Important Information

All audience members over the age of 3 require a ticket
Children under 3 may sit on an adult’s lap without a ticket
If they require their own seat, a ticket must be purchased
Seats are allocated and selected at the time of booking
Please ensure you select the correct concert time and ticket type before purchasing
Ensure you swipe left to right to view the entire seating plan and all available seats
Online ticket sales close 15 minutes before showtime unless sold out prior
Tickets will not be sold at the door
Performers do not require a ticket
Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable

It is possible that these concerts will sell out — particularly Concert 1 and Concert 2 — so if you require a large number of tickets or are particular about where you sit, we strongly recommend booking early.

There are currently no caps on how many tickets families can purchase. The reason we divide the school into three separate concerts is to ensure our entire community of family and supporters can attend and cheer on our dancers.

WHAT HAPPENS ON THE DAY? 🕒

Arrival

Students must arrive at least 30 minutes before their performance time.

Grooming & Uniform

Students must arrive:

Fully dressed
Hair neatly done
In correct uniform

Seating & Supervision

Unlike our end-of-year concerts, there is no traditional backstage area at Places Please. One of the exciting things about this event is that all dancers also get to sit and watch the performance.

Students will sit together with their classmates (not their families) for the duration of the concert, which runs for approximately 60–75 minutes.

No dancers will be dismissed early.

What to Bring

No food or snacks
If your child is in multiple dances, they may bring a small labelled bag with additional dance items only – eg, if your child does hip hop and ballet, they will arrive wearing hip hop uniform and have their ballet shoes and ballet skirt in their labelled bag (depending on running order)
Water bottles and jackets should remain with parents — the venue is well-heated

Parents & Audience

Parents and siblings are asked to wait in the foyer or outside while we settle students in the venue before the performance.

Café

Refreshments will be available for purchase before and after the show. ☕🍪

Toilets

Please ensure your child has been to the toilet before handoff.

Punctuality

Please arrive on time. Late arrivals can be stressful for dancers and disruptive to the performance and professional filming.

IMPORTANT – NO FILMING OR PHOTOS 📵

Strictly no filming or photography is permitted during the performance.

All concerts will be professionally filmed by Mode Video Productions and digital footage will be provided to all families following the event.

Families are very welcome to capture photos before and after the concert, however filming and photography during the show is strictly prohibited.

UNIFORM REMINDER 👗

Correct uniform is required at all classes and performances.

Consistency in presentation helps students feel part of the team and allows teachers to properly assess technique and alignment in class.

ATTENDANCE REMINDER 🏅

Consistent attendance is important as classes are now heavily focused on choreography and concert preparation.

Missing classes can make it difficult for dancers to keep up and can impact the group as routines rely on teamwork and spacing.

Of course, we understand that illness, school commitments and family circumstances arise. However, when attendance is within your control, we encourage families to prioritise class attendance throughout Term 2.

At the end of Term 2, dancers with perfect attendance will receive a small prize celebrating their consistency and dedication.

The theatre rehearsal is essential for a safe and confident concert experience.

⚠️ Students who do not attend their rehearsal will unfortunately be unable to perform in the concert.
