Hi Dance Fam,
Welcome back to Term 2! We hope you all had a lovely school holiday and Easter break. We’re so excited to be back in the studio with our dance family and begin preparation for our 2026 mid-year concert.
HONOURING GEORGIA 🧡
It is with broken hearts that we share; over the school holidays, one of our beautiful Tiny dancers, Georgia, passed away.
We are all deeply saddened by this unthinkable loss.
We keep Georgia’s parents, Ivy and Greg, and their family forever in our thoughts and prayers.
The staff, students and classes directly affected by Georgia’s passing were notified separately before the term started.
To honour Georgia’s memory, her parents have established a fundraising page with the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation. Their initial goal is to sponsor an ICU bed in Georgia’s name for a year, with any additional funds supporting children with the highest needs at the hospital.
Donations can be made here: https://www.mycause.com.au/page/395415/fundraiser-in-memory-of-georgia-wood
To honour Georgia’s memory and her contagious spirit, we will continue to dance with the same enthusiasm, determination and excitement she brought to every class. 🧡
SPECIAL GROWN-UP WEEK – HONOURING MOTHER’S DAY 💐
To celebrate Mother’s Day, we invite our MSF kids to bring one special grown-up to join them for the final 10 minutes of class during Special Grown-Up Week.
A chance to see your child’s progress and get a sneak peek at their concert choreography.
📅 Monday, May 4 – Saturday, May 9
2026 CONCERT THEME
Each year, our end-of-year concert is brought to life through a unifying theme that ties all performances together. Our dancers love immersing themselves in characters, stories and worlds — it makes the experience even more exciting and meaningful.
Some of our recent themes include:
2025 – Animal Kingdom
2024 – The MSF Circus
2023 – The MSF Library
2022 – The MSF Museum
In celebration of Main St Funk’s 20th anniversary, we are excited to announce this year’s theme:
“MSF’s Roaring Twenties”
This year’s concerts will explore two iconic eras — the glitz and glam of the 1920s and the hustle and energy of the 2020s. Each class will learn two routines, one from each era.
Concert prep has already begun, and it’s such a vibe in the studio.
SAVE THE DATE – MID-YEAR CONCERT
This year’s Mid-Year Concert is titled:
“PLACES PLEASE”
A familiar call heard in theatres just before the curtain rises — dancers ready, excitement building, and the performance about to begin.
It’s the perfect nod to what this concert represents… the moment everything starts to come together.
📍 Enjoy Church Epping
📅 Saturday June 20
All students from Mini to Seniors will perform.
Further details, including show times and tickets, will be shared soon.
👉 Please note: Saturday classes will not run on this day.
OPT IN FOR TEXT MESSAGES 📱
MSF will often send reminder SMS messages. These are usually the most important updates or things that can sometimes get missed in the newsletter — like classes not running on a public holiday, special days at the studio, tickets going on sale, and other time-sensitive reminders.
Our parent portal settings have recently changed, and you now need to opt in to receive SMS/text notifications.
Unfortunately, we can’t do this on your behalf, so if you feel like you may have missed a message recently, please take a moment to check your settings:
• Click your name
• Go to Settings
• Select the Communications tab
• Tick all 3 checkboxes
• Click Save
WHILE YOU’RE THERE…
Please take a moment to check that all your details are current and up to date.
In particular, please check your Emergency Contact details. This should be someone different to the main parent listed on the account — in case we ever need to contact someone other than you.
HOUSEKEEPING
• Full uniform (including shoes and hair) is required each week
👉 https://mainstfunk.com/uniform-guidelines/
• Please respect our shared foyer space — no running, climbing or acro
• Bring a full water bottle and use the bathroom before class
• Punctuality matters — arriving late can disrupt class and learning
ATTENDANCE REMINDER & WEEKLY TEAM SPIRIT SHOUTOUT 🏅
Consistent attendance is key to your child’s progress and staying up to date with choreography.
When one dancer is absent, it impacts the whole team.
We understand that things like illness and school commitments come up — but when attendance is within your control, we encourage you to prioritise class.
We’ll also be celebrating consistency with a Weekly Team Spirit Shoutout, including a team photo and a mini celebration in class. It might sound minor, but it has become a well-loved and anticipated tradition that our dancers genuinely love and feel proud to be part of 🎉
THE 100 PERCENT CLUB 🎁
At the end of Term 2, dancers with perfect attendance will earn a small reward — our way of celebrating commitment, consistency and team spirit.
This isn’t to diminish those who have missed a class. We are human and know that a full term of attendance can be tricky. That’s exactly why we love celebrating those who achieve it.
