Hey Dance Fam,

HOW is it September already?! Concert season is officially here, and the excitement is real. This is the busiest time of year at MSF—everything your kids have been working on comes together in an explosion of sequins and hairspray.

We work hard to make this time seamless, but there is a lot happening. Please read carefully, save the important dates, and use this newsletter as your go-to guide for concert season.

📅 TERM 4 DATES – SEE FURTHER DETAILS IN NEWSLETTER

Start: Sat October 4
Photo days: Thu Oct 16 – Sun Oct 19
Compulsory Theatre rehearsal: Sun Nov 16
Open Day: Sun Nov 23
Concerts: Sat Nov 29 and Sun Nov 30
Finish: Sat November 29 (the weekend of the concert!)

📸 PHOTO DAY – NEW & EXCITING!

Every dancer gets their moment to shine in front of the camera.

- Minis → Seniors: Photos in concert costumes (provided by MSF)
- Petites: Encouraged to participate in dancewear
- Each student will take:
  • Group photo for each dance
  • Solo photo for each dance
- Cost: FREE to participate. Photos available to purchase afterwards.

Photo Day Schedule (Time TBA):

Thursday Oct 16 – All Thursday Classes
Friday Oct 17 – All Friday Classes
Saturday Oct 18 – All Saturday & Wednesday Classes + ALL Petites
Sunday Oct 19 – All Monday & Tuesday Classes (no Petites)

👉 Normal classes run on Mon/Tue/Wed during photo week.
👉 No classes on Thu/Fri/Sat during photo week (photo shoot only).

Photos will be available online 7–10 days after the shoot
Parents notified by email + SMS (with link + password)

👗 COSTUMES & POLICY

- Costume try-ons are happening now! Every class will be covered.
- Costumes are art, not clothes. They may not be your preferred colour, cut, or fit, but they are designed for stage magic.
- Week 1 of Term 4: Dancers take costumes home.
- Costumes must be kept safe & unworn until photo day and concert day
- Costumes must be returned after the concert
- Misplaced/damaged items = replacement fee (spares may not be available)

📋 KITLISTS

Each dancer will be provided with a kitlist of items YOU must supply for photo day & concert day (e.g. tights, shoes, pins, etc.).
🔗 Every female dancer must wear a body stocking for modesty → Example here
Every male dancer must wear fitted, plain skin-coloured underwear

💄 CONCERT & PHOTO DAY HAIR & MAKEUP

Mini → Inter girls: Low ballet bun with middle part
Mini → Inter boys: Hair neat & off face
Teens & Seniors: Half pony with curls
Stage Makeup: Compulsory for all dancers for concert day | Optional but recommended for photo day

🎭 COMPULSORY THEATRE REHEARSAL – NON-NEGOTIABLE

This is the only compulsory event of the year.
⚠️ If your child does not attend, they cannot perform in the concert.

- Date: Sunday Nov 16
- Time: TBA
- Location: Loyola College, Watsonia
- Petites do not perform

Why it matters:

- The only chance to rehearse on stage before the concert
- Ensures dancers feel safe & confident in a professional theatre setting
- Theatre hire costs thousands—we provide this at no extra charge

• Time: 3:30pm (Arrive 2:30pm)

Our Petites Program (ages 2.5–4) is growing!

Reminder: All concert students need an MSF T-shirt ($35) for rehearsal & concert.

🏡 HOUSEKEEPING REMINDERS

- Toilets: Use before class, keep clean, flush properly (no wipes/paper towels).
- Foyer: Shared space—no running, cartwheels, or yelling.
- Attendance: Be consistent and punctual (100% Club recognition).
- Uniform: Correct uniform = safety, correction, and team spirit.
- Water bottles: Bring a labelled bottle (no spills in the studio!).
