Main St Funk Dance School Lalor provide a quality and progressive dance education. Its passionate and driven instructors have the highest qualifications, First Aid training and Working With Children Checks to go in hand with their invaluable experience, creativity and love of dance.  



Kristie began her dance training at Bev Palmer’s Performing Arts School where she excelled in the areas of classical ballet, tap and jazz. Kristie competed in the most prestigious dance competitions and won many championships as both a troupe member and a soloist. Her teaching career began when she became an assistant ballet teacher at the age of 12 and since then her love for teaching has grown and she has completed a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. While Kristie specialises in teaching our younger students, she is a hit with all age groups. Her positive and patient demeanor brings out the best in all of the children under her care and Kristie’s warm and loving nature makes every student feel welcome and special in the dance studio.

She was highly successful at all dance competitions, particularly in the areas of jazz, tap & acrobatics where she excelled as a performer. Following this, Carla trained full time as a professional dancer at one of Melbourne’s renowned dance institutions, Dance World Studios. Her teaching career began in her teenage years where she took on classes in the styles of jazz, tap, hip hop, funk and contemporary at a number of dance studios and leisure centres in Melbourne. Carla sustains a great reputation for her innovative choreography, her eye for detail and her ability to get massive improvements out of all of her students. Carla attended the Keep Kids Safe in Dance training session and workshop in 2017 and is passionate about providing an environment that promotes trust, teamwork and fun! 



Chloe found her passion for teaching and choreography at the age of 14 when she started teaching hip hop classes. Since then she has gained invaluable experience teaching at a range of dance schools, holiday programs and gyms in Melbourne. In 2013 Chloe graduated from Box Hill Institute of TAFE with a Diploma of Dance Teaching and Management. She also has a Certificate III in Fitness and has completed a year of full-time professional dance training at The Edge Performer’s School.  In 2017, Chloe trained full time at Etienne Khoo’s Intensive Urban Course at o2 Studios in Richmond. She attended the Keep Kids Safe in Dance workshop and training day and is a member of the Southern Federation of Dance. Chloe is proactive about professional development and is always searching for ways to extend herself as a dancer and a teacher. She believes that dance class promotes confidence, discipline, a healthy body image and an active lifestyle and she strives to instil each of these qualities into all of her students.

He is very active in the dance community and specializes in Hip Hop, contemporary and traditional Thai dancing. Nakarin has a Bachelor of Fine Arts along with a diploma of Dance Teaching& Management, for which he received a scholarship for “Most Outstanding” Student. These qualifications complement years of experience as both a choreographer and a professional dancer at institutions such as; Victorian Ballet School, SILP Productions Inc, Collision Productions, Triple8Funk Dance Company and in 2014, he joinedMAPFest (Melaka Art and Performance Festival) in Melaka, Malaysia, to perform as a soloist. Nakarin has been a hugely appreciated and loved Main St Funk team member since 2010. He brings diversity, discipline and fresh choreography to our classes.


breeheadshotBree has been an assistant teacher, working with our junior students since 2013. She has just recently taken on the role of Wednesday Mini Ballet and Mini Hip Hop teacher. Bree is very much loved and admired by all her students and the rest of the MSF team, because of her gentle and caring nature and her passion for dance. Bree completed VCE last year and is currently undertaking a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and hopes to complete a Bachelor in Primary School Teaching in 2018. 



Angelique found her passion for dancing at the young age of only 3. In 2016 she graduated from Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance with her Diploma in Elite Performance. While studying dance full time, Angelique began teaching multiple styles of dance at a number of dance schools, and finds most of her joy from dance comes through being able to share it with others. She encourages a positive environment in classes, to create a space that feels like a second home. Angelique also has a certificate in Dance Teaching and Management, and in the future looks forward to further professional development opportunities to extend her long list of dance and dance teaching experience.
