Performance Opportunity – city of Whittlesea community festival.

Dear MSF Fam,

Welcome to the first newsletter of the year!! We are so thrilled with the wonderful and positive start to 2022 we have had. The vibe in the studio has been electric and energetic as we welcome and welcome back our dancing students. We are pleased with how all classes have settled and are already developing new dance techniques and skills and making new friends. Keep it up, everyone!!

HOUSEKEEPING REMINDERS
Before getting to the fun stuff, a few friendly reminders.

  • Term 1 fees are now overdue. Please pay promptly or speak to the MSF team if needed.
  • Please do not bring any visitors or spectators to the studio. Our waiting lounge is for students, parents and siblings only, it is not a public space.
  • Our covidsafe plan remains in place in line with government guidelines. Please ensure you can show us a valid vaccination certificate before entering the premises. If you do not have one, please drop your child at the door, without entering the building, and we will help to settle them inside.
  • Masks can be removed as of Saturday, Feb 26th.
  • Please ensure your child goes to the toilet and fills up their drink bottle before class to limit class interruptions.
  • Please supervise your child arriving and leaving the studio. The car parks are conveniently close but for your child’s safety and peace of mind, please walk them to and from the car/studio.

CITY OF WHITTLESEA COMMUNITY FESTIVAL – PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY

After two years of cancelled events, we are beyond excited to have been invited back to perform at the City of Whittlesea Community Festival. This event was a highlight for our students every year and we are thrilled it is back up and running. This performance opportunity is open to ALL MSF kids from Minis-Seniors (Petites do not participate in performances). Unfortunately due to the nature of the outdoor stage, it wouldn’t be safe for our acrobatic dancers to perform, so acro will not be displayed at this event.

WHEN: Saturday, March 26

WHERE: Council Grounds: 25 Ferres Boulevard South Morang 3752

STUDENT ARRIVAL TIME: 11.45 am

PERFORMANCE TIME: 12.20 pm

WEAR: Correct Main St Funk uniform. (Hip Hop: MSF Tee, Black leggings/pants, black shoes, black socks, hair in a slick high ponytail. Ballet: Black leotard, black ballet skirt, pink/flesh ballet stockings, ballet shoes, hair in a slick ballet bun.)

In 2019 we had over 100 students attend the festival and the atmosphere was phenomenal. These kinds of events are of course optional but highly encouraged as they are a great opportunity to practice performing in front of a relaxed and encouraging environment. It also allows more time to develop friendships, teamwork and confidence. All families are encouraged to enjoy the rest of the festivities the event has on offer, after the performance.

If your child is interested in participating, please fill out the form linked here https://forms.gle/mWgCbQtS64qLw6jEA to help us organise which groups will perform on the day.

MSF UNIFORM
All students who are performing at the festival will need to wear full uniform and to look presentable (neat hair, no jewellery.) To view a full outline of our uniform guidelines and to view our recommendations of local dancewear stores, please visit our website. https://mainstfunk.com/uniform-shoe-hair-requirements/ MSF Tees and MSF Hoodies are available to purchase at the studio.

ENROLLMENTS FOR TERM 1 ARE STILL OPEN!
If you’re got a friend who is interested in dancing, you can tell them it’s not too late to join! We are still welcoming new students for term 1 and there is still time for you to try an additional dance class. If you are interested in trying a new style, please get in touch.

END OF YEAR IMPORTANT DATES
Don’t forget to familiarise yourself with our end of year rehearsal and performance dates and to diarise them so that your child doesn’t miss out. Remember, we will hold 3 concerts at the end of the year but most students perform in only 1. Concert groups are outlined on the calendar, on the timetable and on the parent portal during the enrollment process. You can view them again here: https://mainstfunk.com/dates-events/

SOCIAL MEDIA
Don’t forget to follow @mainstfunk on social media for daily updates, dancing content and reminders. It is a great way to stay connected to our community and you might see a familiar face or two! If you’re enjoying your time at MSF please leave a review.
