Yes, it’s us again! With another newsletter. The more exciting things that are happening at Main St Funk the more things we need to tell you! We will try to keep this one short and sweet.
STUDIO CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
We are excited to announce that construction for our second mezzanine studio is due to start in the next 8 weeks. Unfortunately, the timeline for completion is looking a little longer than we anticipated which means that Wednesday and Friday classes will continue at Lalor Secondary College in Term 2. We apologise as we know how excited and keen our gorgeous kids are to dance in the new studio. We thank you for your ongoing patience and support and promise it will be worth the wait. We expect there to be a little disruption to our Epping timetable during the construction period (i.e. possible class cancellations) so in lieu of this we would like to offer ALL Main St Funk students FREE entry to our very first school holiday program! See details below.
INTRODUCING MAIN ST FUNK’S VERY FIRST SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM – AUTUMN JAM
Come and enjoy a day of dancing and fun at our Epping Studio on the school holidays. These classes are offered to all current Main St Funk students for FREE and will also be open to the public ($10 per student per class) so feel free to invite your friends. The classes will be workshop style classes (i.e not concert routines) and will be a great chance to learn something new, perhaps from a teacher your child hasn’t had before. We are excited to have a special guest choreographer come in to work with the inters and seniors. Stay tuned to find out who it is! Autumn Jam will run in the second week of the school holidays, Tuesday 10th of April. Please note the age groups under each class. They are slightly different to our usual age groups, to give you the opportunity to take as many classes as you like. While there is no limit to the amount of classes you can take, please stick to age groups specified. Even though there is no charge, bookings are essential. Fill in the google form to sign up. https://goo.gl/forms/IjiAiYvmlOQepIb63

THE BIG DANCE – FLASH MOB PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY
MSF are excited to be participating in the Big Dance. The Big Dance (organised by AusDance) is the largest free dance celebration in the world and it’s hitting Australia on International Dance Day (29 April 2018)! Big Dance is open to dancers and non-dancers, everyone of all ages, all abilities and all experiences. Students will learn the set choreography (choreographed by acclaimed Indigenous choreographer Frances Rings and New Zealand born Craig Bary) in their usual class time and then have the opportunity to participate in a flash mob at Federation Square on April 29th. AusDance will be organising shuttle buses to Fed Square. We will give you more info (i.e. specific times, getting there/back, meeting points) as it comes in and we highly encouraged all to get involved. Mums and Dads you are invited to participate too! Please fill out the form below.
ONE MOTHER TO ANOTHER CAMPAIGN – MOTHER’S DAY DRIVE
Main St Funk are proud to, once again, be participating in St Kilda Mum’s “One Mother to Another” campaign by holding a Mother’s Day drive. We will collect donations from now until Friday the 27th of April. Last year we were overwhelmed by the generosity and compassion shown by our dancing family and can’t wait to do it all again. To be involved follow the steps below.
- Make up a gift bag of women’s toiletries – choose a nice toiletry bag and fill it with everything you would need if you had nothing. Some ideas are toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, hairbrush, hair ties, comb, shampoo, conditioner, soap, tampons/pads, sunscreen, body and face moisturiser, cotton buds, cleanser, eye makeup remover, body wash, tissues, shaving cream, hand cream, lip balm, deodorant, face wipes, sunscreen, paw paw cream, band aids or a basic first aid kit.
- Include a note for another mother to let her know that you care
- Take a photo of your gift pack and post it on facebook, twitter or instagram using the hashtag #onemothertoanother and tag @mainstfunk
- Pack in a small bag or box and write #onemothertoanother on the outside
- Hand in to us at dancing by Friday 27th of April and The MSF Team will make a delivery that weekend.
Wow, busy, busy, BUSY! Thank you all once again for your patience, support, enthusiasm, big smiles and positive dancing feet – you are the reason we love what we do. As always, if you have any questions please get in touch!
